參訪中國氣象局龍捲風重點開放實驗室 Visit to CMA Tornado Key Laboratory (14/12/2024)

香港氣象學會一行20人在2024年12月14日參觀訪問「中國氣象局龍捲風重點開放實驗室」，與佛山市氣象局及氣象學會進行了寶貴的經驗交流。
20 members of the Hong Kong Meteorological Society visited the “China Meteorological Administration (CMA) Tornado Key Laboratory” on December 14, 2024 and engaged in valuable experience exchange with the Foshan Meteorological Bureau and Meteorological Society.

佛山同行首先帶我們參觀了位於氣象局外的「氣象主題公園」。公園位於佛山新城東平河濱河河畔，核心區域佔地7千平方米，結合氣象觀測與科普教育，免費對公眾開放。
Our Foshan counterparts first led us to the “Meteorological Theme Park” located outside the Meteorological Bureau. Situated by the Dongping River in Foshan New City, the park covers a core area of 7,000 square meters, combining meteorological observations with science education and is open to the public for free.

接下來我們參觀了佛山氣象局內的「中國氣象局龍捲風重點開放實驗室」。該中心是國內唯一的龍捲風研究中心，主要職責為：（一）開展龍捲風等災害性天氣的科學試驗與研究，向氣象部門和政府決策部門提供龍捲風風險提示和決策建議；（二）負責龍捲風的監測和中小尺度數值模式的平台建設、技術開發與業務運行；（三）負責組織龍捲風等災害性天氣的科普、技術交流和刊物出版等工作。
Next, we visited the “CMA Tornado Key Laboratory” in the Foshan Meteorological Bureau. This center is the only tornado research center in China whose main responsibilities include: (1) conducting scientific experiments and research on tornadoes and other severe weather phenomena, providing tornado risk alerts and decision-making recommendations to meteorological and government decision-making departments; (2) monitoring tornadoes and constructing platforms, developing technologies, and conducting operations for medium-scale numerical models; (3) organizing public education, technical exchanges, and publication of materials related to tornadoes and other severe weather events.

佛山是黃飛鴻的故鄉，氣象台裡的設計也融合了「武術」。佛山氣象局甚至拍攝了「龍捲宗師」的短片。
Foshan is the birthplace of Wong Fei-hung, and elements of “martial arts” are integrated into the design of the meteorological center. Foshan Meteorological Bureau even produced a short film titled “Tornado Master.”
