In order to commemorate the outstanding service to the Society of its founding Chairman, Mr. Patrick Sham Pak, and in honour of the distinguished Chinese meteorologist, Zhu Kezhen, a prize termed the Zhu Kezhen Prize shall be awarded annually by the Society.
The Prize shall or shall not be awarded on the recommendation of a Prize Award Panel duly constituted by the Executive Committee of the Society for a meritorious publication in the field of meteorology during the preceding calendar year, published in a peer-reviewed journal or periodical. The Prize Award Panel shall comprise three fellows appointed by the Executive Committee to serve a one year term.
The Prize shall consist of a cash prize, the amount to be determined by the Executive Committee of the Society from time to time on the basis of the income generated from the Patrick Sham Zhu Kezhen Prize Trust Fund, together with a certificate bearing the Society’s crest and signed by the current Chairman, and shall be presented to the awardee at the Annual General Meeting of the Society.
Eligibility for the Prize shall be confined to students engaged in undergraduate or post-graduate research in meteorology and related subjects at a tertiary institution in Hong Kong, and who are members of the Society. No person shall be eligible for the award a second time.
